"A view of Hong Kong's famous harbor as seen from one of the numerous hotels along the waterfront.
When you go to Hong Kong, getting a hotel room with a harbor view is essential!"

This was the view CYF must have seen when he worked as a camera shop clerk at the Peninsula Hotel as a young man. A far cry from a village on Lamma Island! Hong Kong is a big place, from skyscrapers to tiny little farms and everything in between. What exactly does someone mean when they refer to "Hong Kong", though?

Hong Kong is actually a collection of islands, 236 in all. The largest of them is called Hong Kong, and its principal city is Hong Kong. So, when referring to "Hong Kong", it can be the SAR ("Special Administrative Region" of the Peoples' Republic of China), the island or the city itself.

Where in the world is Hong Kong SAR? Here's a map to give you an idea:

One of the financial centers of the world, Hong Kong as a whole boasts a population of over 7 million people. To give you an idea of how small Lamma is, of those 7 million, only 8 thousand are residents of Lamma. The island is becoming a popular place for Westerners as well as locals.
